I can ensure that the car is secure and ready to start.

I can check that everyone is safe and ready to go.

I can ensure the handbrake is on and the car is in neutral.

I can place my foot down on the clutch and hold it down (if needed)

I can turn the key or press the start engine button.

When I have finished driving I can ensure the handbrake is on and gear is in neutral.

Then I can turn the key to off position or press the Start/Stop button to turn off the car.
